Deleting A File or Folder

You can add a file or folder to delete in several ways.

1.   From the File menu or,
2.   From the toolbar or,
3.   From the File Tasks side bar or,
4.   Drag and drop to the file list or,
5.   By right clicking on the file list and using the context menu or,
6.   From the Windows Shell by choosing Remove with XL Delete.

Once you have added all the files/folders that you want to delete, press the Secure Delete button on the toolbar, (The Burning File Icon), to continue to the deletion process.

A verify screen will pop up where you will have your last chance to double check the files/folders that you chose to delete.

When you delete files, the 'Deleting Files....' progress dialog will show up.  The pass progress bar shows the current progress of the wipe pass on the file.  The file progress bar shows the current progress on the total passes on the file.  The total progress bar shows the overall progress of all the files being deleted.   If a file is taking too long or you decide to use a different wipe method or you just want to cancel the wipe, press the 'Abort' button.

Note: XL Delete will use the wipe method specified in the Settings to delete the files.  You can review these settings by going to 'Settings' in the file menu.
