Long Path Tool

The Long Path Tool allows you to easily remove files or folders whose path exceed the Windows max path length.  These files cause errors such as:

 

 

You can use the Long Path Tool to find, delete, and move files and folders affected by this issue.

 

 

To use the tool simply select the root folder that contains the files and folders with the long path names and press the Scan Selected Path button.

 

The Scan Results tab will open up with all the files/folders with long paths:

 

You can now select an item and either move or delete it.

To move a file/folder you must select a new folder location and new name for the file/folder.

 

Note that deleting a file using this method will not secure delete the file.  You will first need to move the file to create a valid path and then add it to the delete list on the main XL Delete screen.
