Purging the File Table
Previous Top Next

XL Delete can purge your hard drive's file table information to get rid of any file information that may be lying around.  This is an optional step after running a free space wipe.

This feature is most effective on NTFS drives.  It will cause the NTFS file table to purge any deleted file names that may be lying around.  File recovery software can usually read this data if it is not cleaned.

Note that this feature may take a long time to complete.  It will also take additional time to clean up the temporary files once a purge has completed.  The dialog will show a recycle bin animation during the temp file cleanup.  Please do not stop the cleanup process.
