This the default wipe method that XL Delete will use for all wipe operations. You can choose one of the built in wipes or a custom wipe.
Remove Custom Wipe - Removes the selected custom wipe.
Add/Edit Custom Wipe - Opens the custom wipe dialog where you can create or edit a custom wipe method.
Use "Auto Buffer" when possible. - This option allows XL Delete to dynamically adjust the buffer size used to wipe each file resulting in faster wipe speed.
Use verify dialog. - Display a confirmation dialog showing all the files that will be permanently deleted.
Wipe file slack space. - Wipe the slack space at the end of a file for greater security. Slack space is area in a drive not used by the file but that has been allocated for the file by the operating system, it may hold fragments of private data.
Ignore - Ignore all alternative streams.
Wipe and Delete - Securely delete all alternative streams.
Delete - Delete the alternative streams. (Not secure.)
This determines the size of the buffer to use when wiping files. A larger buffer will result in faster wipe speeds but will take up more resources. Do not set the buffer size too high as it might cause your system to hang. The default size is 4096 bytes. This option is ignored when using the "Auto Buffer" feature.
